Changes approved by Board of Directors - April 2020

II.A.2
Clarified authorization rule to be consistent with SCA marshal activities, which allows practicing to occur at events and practices (vs. “in the process of authorizing”).
II.B.5a
Clarified language on youth, due to the expansion and definition of “Equestrian Activities” that was added to the 2016 rules. Age 5 years and up continue to be able to authorize or participate as ground crew. Ensures under 5 years are not excluded from handling, petting, pony rides, or other non-authorized activities.
II.B.5c
Updated policy on youth at events to be consistent with Society Seneschal Handbook (July 2019) and the Marshal’s Handbook
IV.C.2b
Tent-Pegging (Pig-sticking) - Added approved overhand technique.
V
Equine regulations have been added, passages updated from the 2003 EQ Handbook.
The Horse welfare description was adopted from the AQHA definition (the AQHA is the largest horse association in the world). Questions on rental horses have occurred often enough that addressing them here in the EQ Handbook is warranted.
Clarifies that the owner solely has the right to determine who may ride or use their horses.
Appendix 3
Updated to be consistent with the updated Society Sanctions wording.
