Society Harnischfechten Experimental Program

The Harnischfechten Experimental Program's goal is to encourage and facilitate fighting according to techniques which are both martially and historically sound, executed safely in a controlled environment, and recreating a historical context (e.g. medieval deeds of arms, pas d'Armes, judicial duels, battlefield single combat).

The emphasis is on proper body mechanics as described in the period manuals, combined with a realistic but safe "armor as worn" and "weapons-as-used" fighting techniques.

Combat conventions focus on correct techniques, not force levels, for strikes to be successful.

It leverages historical combat systems established and used by other schools, such as the Dekoven Concord and the Lynx Accords, to be used in the SCA.

Managed at Society-level

This program is administered by the Society Marshal's Harnischfechten Experimental Program Deputy, not by kingdoms, to mitigate risk and ensure consistency of marshals, expectations, and application of the approved Accords.
